Association of Maliankara Botany Alumni

Association of Maliankara Botany Alumni (AMBAL) is the alumni association of the Research Department of Botany, SNM College Maliankara, established in 2012. This was an ambition of our department to coordinate all alumnus to be gathered here at least once in a year and fulfilled under the enthusiastic leadership of late Dr. K.P. Suma, then the Head of the Department.

It was decided to conduct AMBAL meet every year, on the Sunday preceded by the second Saturday in October. Since 2013, alumni members were assembling accordingly, except during 2020 and 2021. It has an executive council headed by president, secretary, and convenor. Sri. Sreejith PR (Department of Animal Husbandry, Govt. of Kerala) is acting as the president, Sri. George Aloysius (HST, SDPY School,Edavanakkad) as secretary and Dr. MG Sanilkumar, (Assistant Professor of the Department of Botany) as convenor, since 2013. The first annual meet was held on 13th October 2013 at the college auditorium. This august function was inaugurated by Sri. Sippy Pallippuram, renowned children’s author of Kerala. Our college manager, Sri. Rajendraprasad, Head of the department Dr. K.D. Girija, all other faculty members along with former teachers of the department took part in the gathering. Dr. K.K. Joshi, Block Panchayath President of Pallippuram and former HoD of Botany, attended the meeting and offered felicitation.

Annual AMBAL meet has been offering scholarships to three meritorious students, both from UG and PG, every year. Apart from that, in 2022, a sum of Rs. 37000 (Rupeesthirty seven thousand only) has been collected to provide as a medical assistance to the mother of a PG student. Also, they sponsored an LCD projector worth Rs. 42000/- (Rs. Forty two thousand) for the PG students of the department of Botany. Every year, alumni members gathering here to celebrate their good old days.
