Malayalam

The Department of Malayalam was established in 1972 with an undergraduate programme and elevated to a post graduate department in 2015. The department has a history of 50 years so far. It has seven permanent and one guest faculty members in Malayalam and one permanent Faculty in Sanskrit with notable academic track records and class-leading infrastructure facilities. The department offers BA programme and MA programme in Malayalam.

The BA and MA Malayalam programme of the department has a matchless curriculum which makes the programme so different from the BA programmes offered by other colleges and is equipping the students to pursue higher studies at national centres of excellence. Malayala patanathinte reethi sasthram, Natakavum cinemayum, Aadhunika loka kavitha, Falklore vijnanam, Oru ezhuthukaran/Ezhuthukari – Madhavikkutty & Sanskrit as Complementary subjects of this programme .

Apart from that, the department offered the unparalleled academic environment, where the students are exposed to a learning ambience. The Department of Malayalam is marching towards newer heights in the core areas such as Curriculum, Faculty, and Infrastructure and Library facilities.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

  • Impart knowledge in the Principal area of Malayalam language.
  • To become familiar with salient developments in the world of Malayalam language and Literature, in both present-day and historical contexts.
  • Enhance the ability to apply the principles of Malayalam and Sanskrit in everyday life & create the capacity to solve various language problems.
  • Provide essential theoretical and practical training for pursuing a career in the language  and literature field.
  • Orient to promote and protect dignity, equality, social justice, and human rights.
