FIST Labs

DST-FIST sponsored instrumentation facility is available with higher end model sophisticated analytical equipments, which include Trinocular Phase contrast microscope (DSFi2), Trinocular Stereo Zoom Microscope (SMZ-845T) both from Nikon, Japan; UV VIS Spectrophotometer with solid sphere attachment (UV 2600, Shimadzu); HPLC (LC20 AD, Shimadzu); Millipore water purifier (Merck) ; Rotavapour (R100, Buchi); Fume hood(1500Lx750Wx2400H)mm etc. (A centralized weather controlled, 24 hour power back up, instrumentation lab was created with HPLC, UV spectrometer and high end microscopes). A separate computer lab with 13 computers with WiFi connectivity have been set up for UG, PGstudents and research scholars.

Herbarium
An international herbarium SNMH!, accredited by New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) is functioning in the research department of Botany. SNMH! contains more than 6000 accessions, which may be the largest of its kind, among colleges of Kerala. Approximately, 90% of its digitization process is over. The herbarium is widely used by PG students, research scholars and taxonomists.

A well maintained microalgal culture and biotechnological laboratories are functioning in the department of Botany

Botanical Garden
A garden, comprises of some endemic plant species of Western Ghats (Syzygium travencoricum) along with lot of specimen plants for PG and UG students are maintain here.

Kerala State Pollution Control Board Certified Water Analysis Laboratory.
The laboratories of research department of Botany are recognized by Kerala State Pollution Control Board for a period of two years. The estimating parameters are, water and waste water pH Temperature, Dissolved Oxygen, Turbidity Salinity Nitrate Nitrite Silicate, Phosphate, Chlorophyll a, microalgal identification, primary productivity etc.
