Department of Zoology SNM College Maliankara celebrated International Coastal Clean up day  on 21^st September 2024 in association with Department of Marine Biology, Microbiology and Biochemistry, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, Kerala in collaboration with NCCR, Chennai.

The program was inaugurated by Shri K. J. Maxi, Hon’ble MLA, Kochi constituency. He has emphasized the fact that the Fort Kochi beach has the history of deposition of waste regularly in huge quantities and needed a continuous effort than one-time cleanup activity to protect our coast. Dr. S. Venu, Associate Professor, Coordinator, ICC 2024 of CUSAT , Dr P. Raghavan, Scientist C, MoEF & CC, Govt of India , Shri Padmakumar K K, Deputy Director, Department of Tourism, Kerala and Adv. Antony Kureethara, Ward Councilor, Fort Kochi were  participated in the inaugural session. The program extended from 7.00 am to 10.20 am. The event raised significant awareness about the growing issue of marine pollution and its impact on marine biodiversity
