Divyangjan Club

Divyangjan is a Hindi word which means the one with a divine body part. In the higher education sector, the University Grants Commission (UGC) is supporting universities in the country to involve in special education activity by differently-abled persons. Divyangjan Club in SNM College was started functioning from January,2021.

OBJECTIVES:

  • To create Inclus-Culture to avoid discrimination, exploitation and use of Disabled Students and Staff from spheres of work and education.
  • To create suitable regulatory mechanism for effective delivery of services to Disable Students and Staff of the institute
  • To ensure implementation of all legislations with respect to persons W disabilities.
  • To provide accessible and inclusive education at the institute.
  • To ensure full participation of persons with disabilities and to provide the the equal opportunities for development.
  • To provide necessary budget allocation to achieve above objectives

Activities:

  • As an initial step, data of students having disabilities studying in our college, were collected from each department
  • A WhatsApp Group was started by the Club Coordinators as admins for the communication facility and it is necessary to discuss various things with them. They were asked to inform the coordinator of the major difficulties they are facing in the college and what facilities need to be implemented in the college for them.
  • Motivational videos were also sent to them in a timely manner through the WhatsApp
  • Necessary arrangements and measures are implemented to students to resolve their exam related concerns.
  • The college has implemented many things for the disabled like ramp facilities for the convenience of the students, wheelchairs which were kindly provided by the alumni of the college for the children who need it, arrangement of classrooms on the ground floor for students who have difficulty climbing steps.
